Bare-Foot Woodland Walk

Bare-Foot Woodland Walk

When I first heard of bare-foot walks I was absolutely delighted! Hooray for bare feet in the mud!! I had to wait a couple of years to actually get the opportunity to go on one but when I discovered there was such a walk in Luxembourg, not too far from where we were staying, I knew I finally had a chance to try it out.

Next to camping site Auf Kengert inbetween Medernach en Larochette there is such a bare-foot path of about 750 meters long. The walk starts at the sign you see in the picture above. We didn’t actually start there, because we’re idiots and couldn’t find it at first, but thankfully the walk is a circular one so one way or another it will lead you to this sign.

At the sign you can wash your feet with fresh water and prepare them for the – short – walk. The first part of the walk is a mud bath, but because of our sillyness this ended up the last part of our walk.

Something tells me we’re on the right track!

The men accompanying me were not as excited as I was about this thing. It took a while for Martijn to losen up but in the end he did take off his slippers. Casper on the other hand decided he definatly wasn’t going to take off his sandals.

Here you can see the start and finish; the place to wash your feet. It gives me sort of a old Roman vibe.

The first challenge.. the one that I ended up doing last. I had hoped for more of this, but this was as crazy as it was going to get.

I was happy to go on this walk after all this time wanting to go on one! But I had hoped for more mud, more dirt, a longer walk and overall a more challenging hike.

What do you think, bare-foot in the mud; yay or nay?!
